Hello you beautiful guys and gals, how are we all doing today? I hope that you are doing as good as me, because I am amazing! I love writing for my fashion and apparel blog, and today I am back with a really cool piece. I was looking for some warm clothes the other day, and found some cheap second hand Under Armor hoodies for sale on http://www.cheap.forsale/ from last years collection and I just love them. I have always been a fan of Under Armor clothes ever since I was a little kid in the harsh winters, and that fandom has just grown over the years. I have owned shoe, shirts, sweatpants, compression shorts, hoodies and my current favorite, a Superman compression top.
History of Under Armor
Under Armor is a relatively new company in the world of apparel, starting only 20 years ago. It was founded by Kevin Plank, at the time a 23 year old former Special Teams captain for the University of Maryland Terrapins football team. Plank allegedly started looking into material to wick away the sweat from his body as he self proclaimed himself the sweatiest guy on the football field. Up until this point, it was commonplace to wear a cotton shirt on the field that would just soak up the sweat. The only thing staying dry was compression clothing, so Plank looked into moisture wicking synthetic fabric. After finishing at University of Maryland, Plank gave his first prototype to a former teammate going onto the NFL. Plank soon perfected his microfiber design and other major companies like Nike and Adidas tried to follow suit. The following year, Oakland Raiders quarterback Jeff George wore an Under Armour turtleneck and sales orders appeared the next day in Planks mail.
Under Armour started to gather some worldwide recognition after being approached by Warner Brothers to outfit the characters in upcoming films ‘Any Given Sunday’ and ‘The Replacements’ in 1999. The following year, Under Armor was made the official outfitter of the XFL, a short lived semi-professional American football league. Since then, Under Armour has produced clothes for the NFL, minor league baseball, the 2014 Winter Olympics, Major League Baseball, and many university football teams. The company has also signed a deal linking itself to IBM’s Watson to increase the usefulness of data provided from its health monitoring apps.
The expansion of some of Under Armour’s earliest lineups such as StreetGear, TurfGear and Allseasongear have helped to catapult Under Armour to the forefront of performance apparel industry. Most of these early products can no longer be found new, as the science behind the microfibers has improved but some of the earlier clothes are personally my favorite. I used to own this black and white Under Armour jacket, thin enough to wear in fall or spring but warm enough to wear in winter. I was on crutches for 3 months one year, and had giant brace on my leg meaning I couldn’t wear normal pants with pockets. Luckily this jacket has a pocket built into the arm, meaning that I could put some money in there and hobble down to the corner shop for a slushee.
In 2013, Under Armour released a new product in their Coldgear family. This product, dubbed ‘Infrared’, is designed to disseminate heat generated from the wearer and then redistribute the heat around the body, not only keeping the wearer warm but also hiding any sort of heat signature. This line was an expansion on the ‘Scent Control Gear’ released in 2012 that was designed to make the wearers scent undetected, whether or not that claim is true I do not know. Under Armour has also been increasing its shoe sales, making lighter and better shoes every year.
My favourite Under Armour Clothes
Now, I know that I said I have all these clothes from Under Armour but what are my favourites, of one’s I have or don’t have. Currently, my favourite line made by Under Armour is their Alter Ego collection, which is a selection of compression tops made to look like characters from the Marvel/DC universes. This included Star Wars characters Darth Vader and a Stormtrooper, as well as super heros Captain America, Superman, Batman, IronMan, The Hulk, The Punisher, and more. You can find some of their compression tops avaliable here; www.cheap.forsale/under-armour-compression-shirt.
I also love their spring and fall jacket lines, I find most of them are a moderate weight meaning that they can be worn most of the year. If you are lucky, you can even find some Christmas themed sweaters.
Or maybe you prefer their heat gear. I live between 2 countries at the moment, Canada and Cambodia so have to switch from heat gear to cool gear all the time. I get my heat gear from here; www.cheap.forsale/under-armour-heat-gear.
I hope you guys have enjoyed this brief look at my favourite apparel company today. If you did enjoy, then be sure to check out last week’s post about moccasins. If you have any questions about the things I covered or didn’t cover, let me know in the comments below.
